The 2022-23 Statewide Assessment of California’s public school system was released today by the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and the California Department of Education. Test results for Natomas Unified School District aren’t where we hope they would be, with fewer than half of students meeting standards in English language arts and barely 28 percent meeting mathematics standards.

We have to turn these results around.

As your Board Member, I’ll begin working immediately to reverse this trend. I’ll work collaboratively to enhance and revamp the district’s literacy plans and will call for additional investments in after school reading programs, in-person tutoring, and the expansion of the Larry G. Meeks virtual academy to include direct tutoring support in reading and mathematics for all Natomas students.

There are no shortcuts when it comes to student success. I hope you’ll join me to help build a better future for our children.
